An impressive Project
#aerialphotography #Subiaco Photography#helicopter#durban BBC Chartering From Cape Town in last week’s post, we are moving further East in South Africa today (and partly back to Cape Town again). Photographer Grant Duncan-Smith captured the BBC PLATA approaching Durban earlier this month. One can spot the landmark Salisbury Island to the left and Durban’s South Beach to the right of the port entrance. The pilot has just boarded, and BBC PLATA is about to enter the port with a deck load of ten straddle carriers for Durban and two boats, which were later discharged in Cape Town. TSL Shipping & Trading in Dubai was the chartering party for the ZPMT straddle carriers loaded in Shanghai. They came with a height of 16.5 m and a weight of 72 metric tons each. The two fast crew supply boats on deck had been entrusted to us by their builders, DamenShipyards. Taken over by the BBC PLATA in Singapore, they were 34.41 m long at a weight of 95 metric tons each. Everyday, BBC Chartering carries a wide variety of cargoes in an even bigger variety of combinations, of which this case represents another impressive example.

A recent aerial shoot of BBC Pearl in Cape Town
What a view, don’t you agree? Of course you will have identified Cape Town and the table mountain in this fantastic photo by Grant Duncan-Smith, who took his camera on a flight with a helicopter to capture this special moment for us: BBC PEARL arriving Cape Town, South Africa on 8 May after her voyage from Tallinn, Estonia with the two tower sections for installation on AMV3, which is to be the first purpose-built and largest diamond recovery vessel in the world.
